GENERAL FUNCTION
The Director of HR will lead field talent management, HR project management, communications, and employee growth and retention initiatives at Sunglass Hut. The individual will be a skilled communicator and project manager who can successfully strengthen processes and practices to implement our people initiatives. This leader has strong written and verbal communication skills, has substantial consultation and facilitation skills and effectively manages the details of the HR project plan to execute initiatives at a broad organizational level. This leader will also be experienced in people analytics and performance measures to drive and support the successful delivery of our employee and brand pillar. The HR Director has a working knowledge of employee retention methods and a proven track record of retaining the best talent and lowering employee turnover. The Director of HR is collaborative and influential and leverages the power of relationships to accomplish our goals.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead efforts to positively impact the employee experience and life cycle, including new hire onboarding and objective setting, performance management, succession planning, talent development, employee retention, and rewards
- Lead strategic talent and career development initiatives to support organizational effectiveness and employee growth
- Build enhancements and further implementation of the career development roadmap to provide career development clarity and foster employee growth
- Collaborates with the Training COE and owns the annual calendar and implementation of training and development initiatives for our field organization
- Leads the Performance Management, talent assessment, talent review, succession planning process, employee development, and retention programs
- Partners with brand leadership to identify gaps, build processes, adapt and build internal programs and develop HR strategies to support business initiatives
- Leverage key talent metrics to refine and evolve our talent management strategy in partnership with the talent COE
- Assess and provide monthly employee turnover reports, enhance existing retention methods, and implement an exit interview structure
- Owns HR employee communications to keep employees informed and engaged; provides the right communication at the right time to the right audience.
- Collaborates and works cross-functionally with the HR COEs, brand partners, and internal communications teams to coordinate the development of communications, the HR calendar, and implementation of programs, systems, and processes to support the business
- Build on the existing HR Calendar to evolve to a robust ongoing rhythm of the business
- Lead, develop and manage defined project plans to ensure organizational deliverables. Balances multiple projects end to end with varying deadlines.
- Analyze and prepare status updates, reports, and recommendations for leadership leveraging HR and business metrics
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree
- 10+ years of Human Resources experience
- Ability to define, build and execute HR strategies
- Skilled in PowerPoint, Excel, and project management
- Agile, adaptable, and enables simplification
- Experience with Retail/Store environments
- Fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Experience managing companywide projects/initiatives
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MA, SPHR, 2+ years with Executive Level exposure and support
- Strong HR leadership experience in retail business & Global and corporate HR experience
