Position-Data Science Manager

About the team: As part of the IT group, we are responsible for executing our enterprise data strategy which emphasizes data management maturity, fosters a robust data culture, and architects a best-in-class enterprise data platform. We have the ultimate goal to provide trusted data and insights at scale which enable corporate and functional data-driven decision making. We are fueled by organic innovation, internal collaboration and adoption of data visualization, data management, reporting automation, AI/ML and integration tools. We leverage best practices and alignment through our Enterprise Data Community to deliver speed to insight, scale, control and enablement. The team is distributed across the United States and India and is composed of data engineers, data analysts, visualization developers, and infrastructure specialists.
About the Role: Zscaler is moving from a digital transformation to AI Transformation mindset. As the Data Science Manager you will be leading and developing our Data Science Program and Strategy in collaboration with our VP, Data. You will not only be technically adept but will also be an effective communicator, strategic thinker and aspiring visionary leader. You are expected to understand the Saas business model, seek out industry trends and innovation opportunities, and have a proven track record of applying AI/ML to drive organizational success. You are responsible for building and developing an on-shore/off-shore team of data scientists and analysts as well as providing hands-on execution of our top priority use cases. You will have exposure to both traditional and Generative AI and the opportunity to make an impact across Zscaler. This role is pivotal to our mission of leveraging data to drive innovation, create efficiencies, and make informed business decisions.
Responsibilities/What You’ll Do:
Development Data Science Strategy and Supporting Program that aligns with the companys goals and objectives
Work with large, complex data sets and apply advanced analytical methods as needed.
Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
Calculate ROI estimation and provide testing frameworks to validate impact
Build and manage a high performance, proactive team of data scientists and analysts that are able to not only keep up with but also pioneer in this space.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching as needed
Foster a project/model development lifecycle including deployment, monitoring and value realization
Develop comprehensive knowledge of Zscaler data structures and metrics, including product entitlement, utilization, support, pricing, revenue, sales, and marketing activities.
Create deep partnerships with engineering, product, infrastructure and business partner teams to deliver on major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts.
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and develop data-driven solutions focused on maximizing the business-value delivery
Own model accuracy, efficacy and continuous improvements
Qualifications
Qualifications/Your Background:
Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field a plus
5+ years of experience in data science with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proficiency in data science tools and languages such as Python, R, SQL, and various machine learning frameworks.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven track record of building and leading data science teams.
Previous experience in the Saas industry a plus
Expertise in scoping work requested by diverse sets of stakeholders and ability to map it to the business value delivery and strategic goals
Strong capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Track record of applied data science models (Regression, Decision Trees, K-Means, etc.).
Demonstrated leadership and self-direction. Willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.
Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
Additional Information
The base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000 to $190,000 + Bonus+ Equity+ Benefits. Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, location and relevant education or training.
