Director Warehouse Operations

C.H. Robinson is looking to hire a Director of Warehouse Operations. In this role you will lead the warehouse and consolidation field operations strategy, inclusive of all warehouse services and the real estate strategy across numerous locations within North America. You will be responsible for prioritizing safety, focusing on employee engagement, and improving accuracy while impacting efficiency and driving utilization of automation and technology to result in continuous improvements.
Critical to your success will be your ability to develop strong relationships across our warehouse, commercial, and capacity leadership teams in order to develop strategies that maximize our value proposition. Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Planning and Management:
Develop and lead warehouse operations strategies to meet our volume, revenue growth, and operating income expectations
Utilize analytics to drive improved business decision making, safety, employee engagement, quality, efficiency, and profitability
Partner with warehouse management system IT Team and 3rd party technology solution teams to drive efficiencies and enhancements within the distribution center network
Collaborate with commercial leaders to support commercial go-to-market strategies with a focus on quality and efficiency to meet the unique volume needs of our warehouse customers
Continuously review warehouse structures to drive business objectives, efficiency, scale, and growth, including role definition, resource, and headcount alignment
Financial Management:
Accountable for the financial performance of the warehouse operations function as measured by the P&L including budgeting, and expense management
Oversee warehouse operations budgets, monitor financial reports, metrics, and analytics, and adjust business processes, strategy, and resources accordingly
Talent Management:
Responsible for multi-layered people leadership across multiple locations
Set annual performance goals that clearly align to organizational objectives
Manage the performance and development of direct and indirect reports through both formal and informal performance management, coaching and feedback, mentoring and training, and developmental tools
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum 10 years’ experience in leadership roles within warehouse operations function
Minimum 5 years multi-DC people management experience
Ability to travel up to 50% to our DC network
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing financials for a large, warehouse segment
Ability to understand and communicate financial metrics, including P & L
Demonstrated success in managing programs related to process improvement and lean
Warehouse market and industry knowledge
Strong communication skills, proficiency presenting to internal and external audiences
Demonstrated negotiation, collaboration, and influencing skills
Experiential knowledge of the application of automation to improve operations
