What you'll be doing
Provide flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive health services to Aboriginal clients and the community, to achieve better health outcomes and better access to health services for Aboriginal people.
About Ivanhoe
Ivanhoe is a small, community oriented town in far west NSW, situated between the iconic Darling and Lachlan rivers. Selection Criteria
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (N.B. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) with minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or related field, or willingness and commitment to obtain.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and deliver health education initiatives.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including word processing and data entry skills.
- Current unrestricted licence and a willingness and ability to travel as part of the role.
- Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community, with demonstrated understanding and commitment to improving the health issues impacting on Aboriginal infants, children and their families with demonstrated experience working with families who have young children.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and liaise with other health professionals to facilitate health services for Aboriginal families and their children.
- Ability to work under limited supervision, use own initiative and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.
