Summary:

The Older Adults Instructor is responsible for leading group fitness classes for older adults. This includes preparing and leading multiple classes per week in a fun and productive environment for all class members.
The instructor will promote knowledge of proper group fitness components, such as warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc.

The instructor must be knowledgeable in techniques and dynamics of Group Fitness. They must be able to make appropriate adjustments for class members who physically cannot participate in a certain activity.

They must be aware of the emotional and mental state of the class members, being mindful of how nutrition affects the mind and body.

Group Fitness Instructor is also responsible for:

  • Maintaining the Group Fitness room and equipment as well as making sure members clean up after themselves.
  • Assisting with marketing the Fitness Center’s programs and classes
  • Having exceptional customer service and a positive attitude.

Work Environment:

  • Position requires regularly moving about the facility. Communication with potential and current members, customers, and staff occurs regularly. This a professional medical/fitness environment.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Experience/Education
  • Group Fitness Certification OR Personal Training Certification
  • 2 years’ experience as a certified fitness professional OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience within the health and fitness industry.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Knowledge/Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to speak/understand Spanish helpful.
  • A strong work ethic
  • Able to act with accuracy, tact, speed, and confidentiality.
  • Able to provide pleasant, timely service to clients and staff.
  • Able to be thorough in executing duties and be able to multi-task.

Preferred Skills:

  • Outgoing personality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization and time-management skills.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Older Adults Fitness Instructor

Dress Code:

  • DPPT logo shirt, unbranded polo or button-up shirt
  • Athletic pants or casual dress pants
  • Athletic shoes or casual dress shoes

Physical Demands:

  • Being able to pick-up/move weights (up to 100lbs.)
  • Able to move without limitation about facilities.
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Vision requirements include being able to see color, focus, and use peripheral vision, with or without correction.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

  • Day shift

  • Deer Park, WA 99006: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Senior Fitness: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • AED Certification (Preferred)
  • Senior Fitness Certification (Preferred)
