  • The Community Team provides intensive quality mental health services to adults experiencing serious mental illness requiring assessment, treatment and case management services within an integrated model.

  • As the Senior Nurse on the team, you will act as a leader and role model, providing support and supervision to other clinicians as necessary.

Your New Role:
  • Support, advise and guide colleagues in matters specifically relating to nursing care and interventions to provide better patient outcomes
  • Provision of acute assessment and intervention to these consumers and their families/carers in both an in-reach and outreach capacity when required.
  • Supporting the Team leader with referrals, allocations and general workflow.
  • Participate in clinical service development activities within the team and encourage and support quality initiatives and research.

About You:
  • Advanced knowledge and capability in assessment and treatment of mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Extensive experience supporting consumers with mental health issues and their families, assisting them with the impact of mental illness on dependent children and family/carers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers.
  • An advanced knowledge of major types of treatments, therapies and targeted interventions and their contributions to innovative recovery-oriented service delivery approaches
  • Previous experience nursing within a Public Mental Health Setting

Selection Criteria
Essential: Registration as a registered nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Essential: Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
